NZX Agribusiness Conference
The 2010 NZX Agribusiness Conference will be held in Taupo from Monday 17th
May until Thursday 20 May, at Bayview Wairakei Resort.
The conference has now grown to be one of the key events in the pastoral calendar
for all farmers and business people.
Square
Trust Rescue Rail Helicopter
The Square Trust Rescue helicopter performs around 500 missions per year. A
mix of ambulance, inter-hospital transfers and Police work makes up these jobs.
The unique properties of the AS 350 B2 Squirrel helicopter to respond quickly
and easily to emergencies is a real asset. The thing that makes their service
so special and that touches the lives of our community is the people. The team
is made up of Pilots, Paramedics, Flight Nurses and Police who work and train
hard to ensure the best level of service is delivered. The community, service
groups and local businesses that support the service with donations of time,
money, goods and services make this work possible.
Ballance
Farm Environment Awards
The Farm Environment Awards were established in 1993 as a joint initiative between
the Waikato Conservation Board and Environment Waikato. The key objective of
the awards is to display to farmers that profitability need not compromise environmental
values. Indeed, past winners of the awards have shown that the environment can
be both restored and enhanced under profitable farming systems.
The awards help farmers enhance their businesses in a number of way.
NZX Agri provides motivated support and extreme coverage of the awards in our
publications.
NZ Farm Forestry Association
In 2010, the NZ Farm Forestry Association will hold its annual national conference
in Invercargill, 7 – 11 April .This year the conference has been called
‘Winds of Change – Beyond Radiata’ and NZX Agri is a sponsor
of the conference.
The NZ Farm Forestry Association looks set to grow as it contains a huge resource
of knowledge available to people looking to re-afforest their land either in
forestry species (NZ's plantation timber is totally sustainable) or in native
species. Our association freely shares our vast amount of expertise and experience
with all-comers. As members we have planted trees for environmental purposes
as well as investing in the future in a sustainable and renewable resource and
will be relying on our association to continue to assist us in understanding
carbon credits, emission trading schemes as well as silvicultural expertise.
National Ewe Hogget Competition

excellence in stock health and management.
The objective of the New Zealand Ewe Hogget Competition is to select the flock
replacements that are likely to be most productive and profitable over their
lifetime.

Field Days at Manfeild Park,
Feilding on 12 – 14 March 2010. Stud displays with competitions on Friday
& Saturday culminating with the Meat and Wool cup on Saturday afternoon.

The
New Zealand Young Farmers
NZYF is a social organisation that is tonnes of fun with down to earth people.
Each club has its own identity and community spirit, backed by a national organisation.
You make friends for life and develop your personal and practical skills through
participation and achievement.
NZX Agri Sponsors the membership drive through our publications.
We also have recently launched a new publication Young Country that works with
the Young Farmers Association. Young Country is a magazine for 18-35 year old
farmers and agribusiness leaders in New Zealand. It aims to entertain, inform
and inspire its readers with stories of people who live on the land or work
with people who do. It will bring stories of people who are achieving success
in their farming business while enjoying the unique lifestyle and character
of rural New Zealand.
The Pasture Renewal Charitable Trust
Currently New Zealand pasture renewal rate is very low at only 3-4% annually.
The ideal rate of renewal is 10% of each farm annually to maximise the benefits
from new pasture for increased dry matter production, better stock performance,
improved animal health, greater management flexibility and a higher income.
The value of pasture-based farming is the fundamental platform for 35% of
New Zealand’s annual GDP. Trust members believe renewing pasture more
frequently is the key to New Zealand’s farming future and will benefit
the whole economy.
NZX Agri has joined together with 17 agribusiness companies to work collaboratively
to promote the value of more frequent pasture renewal on New Zealand farms.
